Thanksgiving

Dear Poppy

Today is Thanksgiving in America.  It is a day when we are thankful for all of the things we have.  There is a show here called David Letterman and he does lists of Top 10s, so I thought I would give you my list of Top !0 things I am thankful for.

1.  I am thankful that PawPa and Mummy took me to the park three times yesterday and I was so tired I could not go out for my before-bed walk.  So I woke up extra early and was full of energy at 5:30am.  It was great, PawPa took me out and it was raining which was jolly refreshing.

2.  I am thankful that Mummy gave me a bone at 6am because she and PawPa wanted to snuggle some more.  I like my bone a lot and just to show Mummy how grateful I was I was extra loud as I ate it, threw it in the air and let it bounce off of the furniture.  Yummy.

3.  I am thankful that PawPa went to the Sydney Olympics and brought back a really nice sweatshirt with a big pocket that he puts my treats in.  I am extra thankful that this morning he left it on the floor as I was able to get the treats on my own.  How clever of me. All I had to do was drag it around and nibble at the corners.

4.  I am thankful that PawPa sleeps with his foot hanging off of the bed.  When I want to play I go and pull at it and that wakes him up.

5.  I am thankful that while I was having my breakfast PawPa was folding laundry.  I really like to jump in a chair full of clean, warm and pleasant smelling laundry.  It is great fun, pieces fall off and I help PawPa by picking them up.  This is especially nice right after breakfast as it takes the food taste away.  An added bonus is when I get the dryer sheet.  They taste nice and I can shred them into little pieces.

6.  I am thankful for the little bells that Mummy and PawPa put by the door.  They are so funny.  When I ring them they dance around, throw coats on, grab my lead and take me out for w.alkies.  Two Legs are so cute, they are so easy to train.

7.  I am thankful that PawPa is not usually awake in the mornings.  He opens the door and lets me walk to the lift by myself.  It is at the end of our corridor and my friend Blizzard lives near it.  Blizzard is a super nice white cat who lives with a Two Leg named James.  I like to run all the way down the corridor and play with Blizzard.  Blizzard loves hide and seek, when she sees me she dashes into her home and hides.  I do my best to find her and PawPa and James call me Lucy.  Go figure.

8.  I am thankful that Mummy always gives me a treat when she brings me home.  PawPa however is horrible and does not.  He likes to play tug of war with me but you know how it goes - no treat, no play Two Legs!  Mummy is usually still asleep so I go and play with her instead.

9.  I am thankful that there is lots to do when I go for walks.  I see all of my friends.  The other dogs, the squirrells and, especially, the birds.  I love the birds.  I jump and jump and jump and try and catch them.  It really wakes me up and I get very excited.  I never manage to capture them so instead I decide my lead is like a bird and catch it.  PawPa does not like this though and shouts at me so I jump around to show him how clever I am.  He doesn't seem to appreciate how clever I am sometimes.  Silly PawPa.

10.  And finally I am thankful to have you as my cousin.

Write soon,

Love and Licks

Mugsy
