The Dog House

Dear Poppy,

I am so sorry about your torturous treatment. I cannot imagine such horrors. I too am quite confused about the significance of your treatment. Why rush you to eat? That only causes digestive problems. Now that I am no longer afraid that the other dogs at the horrible place from where I came can steal my food, I too have been known to take a little break between bites.

I have done some research for you: you must ask your grandpaw to call Miniature Poodle Rescue Co-ordinator - Mrs. Beth Dowle, Northants. Tel: 01933 358959 to get you out of this horrible situation. I would also call the newspapers and tell them that you are being tortured in a most inhumane fashion. Your mum will get into lots of trouble and you will get your throne back.

I also am in a bit of a bind. I made a terrible mistake last night. I reached up to grab the tea towel that I always grab when I urgently need attention. Unbeknownst to me, my mummy’s dinner plate was on the tea towel and it came crashing down. Oh, Poppy, it was not a pretty sight. I have never seen mummy so angry. She used a voice that I have never heard before and told me to “get away, get away, get away.” She was very sad and told Puppaw that she had been cooking for hours and was really looking forward to her special spinach and mushroom dish and I ruined it. Puppaw tried to comfort her and told her it was an accident, but she was still angry. Puppaw even shared his dinner with her, but I guess it wasn’t enough. She gave me the cold shoulder all night. I followed her everywhere to tell her how sorry I was, but she wouldn’t have anything to do with me. Puppaw made her give me a hug because I looked so sad, but I could tell she didn’t mean it.

I was so worried all night long. I slept all the way until 7:00 am and that seems to have made my mummy happy. She cuddled with me this morning, I think she has finally let it go.

It was a close call. I really thought I was going to have to go back to the horrible place where mummy and puppaw got me.

I guess we were both in the dog house. I am trying my best to stay out. You should too.

Licks and licks, your very well intentioned, cousin Mugsy
